French Toast Bake
There is nothing better than a breakfast dish that can be eaten in the morning at the kitchen table or late at night, huddled up on the sofa. Its just that versatile. Enjoy it at breakfast with a plate of fluffy yellow buttery eggs or as a dessert topped with vanilla bean ice cream, drizzled with caramel sauce or a decadent fruit sauce.
This is an anytime meal and it's very easy to make and clean up. Everyone will enjoy it and praise your skills as the best chef ever. Lol.
INGREDIENTS
- 8 eggs
- 1 1/2 cup of milk
- 1/2 cup of heavy cream
- 1/2 cup of sugar
- 2 tablespoon of vanilla extract
- 1 loaf of french bread (cut and cubed)
- 1/4 teaspoon of salt
Crumble Topping
- 1/2 cup of butter (cold and cubed)
- 1 cup of light brown sugar
- 1/2 cup of white sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon of salt
- 1/2 cup of flour
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
- Preheat oven to 450 degrees.
- Place cubed french toast pieces in a greased 9x12 baking dish.
- In a large bowl, mix the eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla extract and salt. Mix well and pour mixture over french bread and set aside.
- In a medium bowl mix cold butter, sugars, salt, flour and cinnamon. Mix together until you get the texture of clumpy sand.
- Sprinkle brown sugar crumble evenly over the french toast mixture.
- Cook for 40 minutes or until it is golden brown and bubbly. Let sit for 5 minutes.
- Top with syrup, powdered sugar or your favorite topping. Dig in!
